I Voted

Oh My Goodness, what a long line!  I don't think its ever been like that before, but it was important.

As I think about how happy I am to have the gospel in my life, it calms my nerves.  :)  I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who answers our prayers.  This is a great comfort during these stressful times.  We can be faithful to the gospel, help to lift one another just as the Savior did.  I hope I can daily do those things that can continually remind me of how our Savior loves us so much.

Life Can Be Simple

Okay, who would have ever thought that you could make homemade peanut butter cookies with 4 ingredients.  I saw an ad for the new Paula Deen Cooking with kids cookbook (which I will have to get!!) and in the ad it gave the recipe for the peanut butter cookies.  SIMPLE!! and good.   I was skeptical, so I had to try it.

1 Large egg
1 cup smooth peanut butter
1 cup sugar
30 chocolate Hershey's Kisses

Heat oven to 350.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

In a mixer bowl beat together egg, peanut butter and sugar until a dough forms.  Shape the dough into small balls and place 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes.  Remove baking sheet from oven and immediately press a chocolate kiss into the middle of each cookie.  Transfer cookies to a rack and cool.

Seriously, I love simple cooking.  5 or less ingredients is what I like!!

candy galore!!

Ashlyn and Braelynn dancing to the scary music with crazy googly eyes
Cheesy grins - gearing up for the night
Adams and Cotton crew - ready to go - oh and by the way, Brady is dressed up as a 13 year old teenager - see the smile on his face! (actually he really had a good time)
Our three little pretty witches - Braelynn, Callie and Ashlyn - Brady and Jackson the baby tiger.  He was so happy to be there.
About 5 years ago I started having doughnuts and hot chocolate after we trick or treat.  I guess because I don't think the kids have had enough sugar yet. :)  The Chace family came over this year.
Brady's second costume of the night - he really needs to see a good dentist - Sarah with an eyeball in her mouth - Last year I bought a package of eyeballs and put them in the kids hot chocolate - a couple weeks ago Ashlyn asked why she hasn't had an eyeball in her chocolate milk.  So I guess we now have an eyeball in the hot chocolate tradition.  That is as spooky as I get.

The kids got so much candy!! I couldn't believe it - Yummy doughnut holes and doughnuts.

fun with construction paper

My sister Liz has a cute little babysitter who came up with this fun idea while she was babysitting.  Being fall break this week, I needed to throw in a few fun things for the kids to do.  These pumpkins turned out really cute and the girls loved making them.

Here is how to make them:  Super easy!!!

gather your supplies - construction paper, brads (2 for each pumpkin) and cutter
cut strips about 1/2 inch wide of the paper.  We used 8 strips per pumpkin.
Turn them into a fan.  This is great for their little fingers and they have a blast doing it.

Concentrating - my domestic diva
We fanned the leaves tore them short and tore them into a point for the leaves.

Take 8 of the fanned pieces and a brad - punch each end through the brad connecting them all together.
Take the second brad and bring each end piece up (use the green leaf piece first so it is on top) and put it all together.  note- we wanted to have different sized pumpkins so we left some of the strips long and on a couple of the pumpkins we made the strips shorter.
little nimble fingers - so sweet
There you have it a cute little pumpkin made by your little pumpkins.  (Callie took this picture she is very proud that I used her picture.)

Thanks Liz  and Megan for sharing this idea.

googly eyes

I saw this too cute googly eyes wreath on someone's blog. (I have backsearched and can't find it, sorry) but I just had to have it for my front door. Connor helped to spray paint this grapevine spray wreath and then I attached the googly eyes with hot glue.

So spoooooky -

"Fall"ing in Love

What an awesome time of year.  So many things to be thankful for.  Truly we are a blessed people and I am grateful to have all of the things the Lord sees fit to bless me and my family with.  One of my most favorite primary songs is "My Heavenly Father Loves Me"...it goes like this -

"Whenever I hear the song of a bird
Or look at the blue, blue sky,
Whenever I feel the rain on my face
Or the wind as it rushes by,
Whenever I touch a velvet rose
Or walk by a lilac tree,
I'm glad that I live in this beautiful world
Heavenly Father created for me.

He gave me my eyes that I might see
The color of butterfly wings.
He gave me my ears that I might hear
The magical sound of things.
He gave me my life, my mind, my heart
I thank Him reverently
For all His creations of which I'm a part
Yes, I know Heavenly Father loves me."
